Good job Missus B! I am with you on craving sweet stuff! I recently heard that a local ice cream shop (Helados) serves a churro sundae! Its a fresh churro topped with cinnamon ice cream and salted caramel sauce, I will be sampling it just as soon as I can! Now that i have read your post, I really want some peanut M&Ms.

 MissusB,

You are doing so well! Lucky you - getting cured on these new DAA's, yay you got Mav! I am glad you are doing so well, feeling OK. You got the water drinking and everything you are supposed to be doing down pat.

Don't sweat the sugar cravings - sugar happens (before, during and/or after treatment!), just ask any of the DQ addicts around here.

Just ask 5 to tell you what her "little bit of white cake" binges are really like! wink  C.

Oh, BTW, I was a double-fisted chain smoker, all my life (AND right through treatment). NEVER, did I honestly EVER try to quit - I was NEVER "out" of cigs, always one "on fire" going in the ashtray, a smoke in each hand (one for each lung). Finally quit last year - ya,ya, no one is more amazed at that than me. Just wanted to agree with 5's advice that maybe right now would not be a good time to quit. You'll decide when the time is right.

Be careful! Peanut M&M’s are dangerously good and seriously addictive, lol!

Ok Tig...you got my attention with M&Ms.  Went to Walmart to get a case of water...family size peanut M&Ms in display at checkout. Yep, I bought water & M&Ms...slapped my own hand but it paid no attention and grabbed that bag if M&Ms.  Oh well!

MissusB,

You're funny! I know you're upset with your sweets and smoking behavior, but don't be too hard on yourself. As long as you make a conscious effort to avoid too much of it, hopefully the swing will return to a more normal intake of good stuff and the not so good stuff. I did (do) the same thing all the time. I had bowls of peanut M&M's all over the house and could NOT stop myself. Then one day something clicked and I wasn't drawn to them like I had been. I think your craving will diminish, just don't go to the grocery store hungry!

I'm anxious for your results. You got this!

i ditto everyone, you are doing a tough tx so being good to yourself today meant soothing yourself with treats.... esp once you realized you have 6 more weeks to go... but you will be fine.

this might be a bad time to quit smoking so let yourself off the hook for that

hang in there you are going to get this done

Ditto what polosilver said...you had a good dinner , took your dragon slaying pills and drank 5 bottles of water...youre doing awesome!

the sweets were just what you needed today...I ate brownies, ginger cookies or cinnamon buns every day while when I was on treatment, ...its no biggie. I stopped craving that level of sweet  after treatment

cant wait to see your numbers missusb

MissusB --

my thought when reading this is that you drank 5 bottles of water, that's good! I imagine the Dr. Pepper tasted mighty sweet in the heat along with those other delights...its okay! It was for a day. Somedays are like that, we do the best we can and move on. Today was part of your healing process and you did what you could to get through it. I think that's good! You ate a healthy dinner and took your meds, drank 5 bottles of water, which is what is important to slay the C dragon!

ps

Week 2....Done; 6 to go.  Today was weird, no strawberries, blueberries or walnuts! Ive  craved sweets and cigarettes all day...never done that before. Smoking is going to be the next dragon I conquer.  Ive smoked, ate cookies, ice cream, mini candy bars, fruit bars, more cookies, smoked more cigarettes, ate more candy bars, drank Dr Pepper.....probably gained back in one day those six pounds I lost in these last two weeks....lol.  Hope I dont do that many days or I Will have to buy bigger clothes.  I did manage to drink 5 bottles of water in between all that junk.  Managed to eat a decent meal this evening before I had to take the pills.  Not eating nothing else tonight and going to slap my own hand tomorrow if I even reach for any junk food.

I like the way you sound, MissusB! Your description of the progress you’ve made, is well described, good job. That’s the kind of positivity everyone needs to know. Those that will be following and having concerns about treatment, benefit from these messages.

Keep it up! You’re doing great

Happy to read that you are still feeling good!! Hooray, hooray! A Dragon Slayer indeed! Sounds like you are good at taking care of yourself through the process. The more I read about the benefits of water, the more I know to drink plenty of it everyday. Have a wonderful day MissusB and lay low during the heat of the day. That's awesome that you are sleeping so well,,that helps our bodies heal too, taking rest.

Yes...Im still feeling good!!  I told my husband yesterday that I even think I feel better...maybe because for the first time in my life Im drinking lots of water and staying hydrate.  Sleeping good..8-9 hours every night & wakening up feeling rested.  I do take it easy all day and try not to exert myself, especially in this oppressive heat were experiencing.  Nurse from Infectious Disease Clinic called to check on me yesterday & I told her I was leery that I would jinx myself if I told her I was doing great! I still have those liver quivers every once in awhile and tell myself that its the magic pills kicking the crap out of this virus..lol!  No side effects so far...Nurse told me since I didnt have any first week it is unlikely that I will notice any but to call her if I do.  Getting labs drawn Aug 28...will be 3 1/2 weeks into therapy.  Doc out of town the next week and wanted to do followup at 3 1/2 instead off waiting till 5 weeks.  Tig told me when I first joined this forum that I would be amazed and hes right...I am amazed!  Im so glad you guys are all here to talk to...makes this journey so much easier!  Hope everyone has a great day!  Yall welcomed me and made me feel comfortable with Mavyret when I was scared to death and didnt know what to expect when I swallowed those first three pills!

Good news, MissusB. You are off to a good start.

Remember, peeing is a good thing.  Out with the bad, and it really does help with side effect like headaches and fatigue.  I still drink lots of water, having discovered how helpful it is overall. Be sure to get enough electrolytes.  I used a flavored powder diluted through the day.

Keep up the good work.

Im happy to hear that treatment is tolerable MissusB! The days will likely go by quicker now as you see the quantity of little pill containers disappear! My hope for you is that those days will be so normal that you might catch yourself almost forgetting to take your dose. Dont do that!! I just ordered meds to carry me through the second half of this journey and I am surprised that it has gone by so quickly! You got this!

Hello MissusB!

Wow, I love quinoa. I cook it similar to rice, cup of quinoa w/~2 cups of water. I put a small dollop of olive oil in the water as it cooks and stir. I like to add cut up veggies such as small pieces of carrot and red pepper or tiny broccoli pieces with a spice - basil, oregano, sometimes tumeric or curry. I try different things to make it interesting. Enjoy! It has a slight nutty flavor.

I completely understand the concern taking the first dose. I was riddled with anxiety and so nervy when I took my first Harvoni, I thought I was going to explode or something...and then I took it and went to bed and woke up the next morning and drank water and had a cup of coffee. Eating healthy is smart and awesome girl --- yeah!

It sounds to me like you’re already in full control of your own battle against the Dragon! You have grabbed it by the wings and it’s already feeling the effects of the Mavyret beatdown. Your plan is sound and your attention to improving your health through diet, hydration and a great attitude will assure success.

Don’t get rid of the Mounds & Hershey bars, I’ll eat them, lol!

Morning after 2nd dose and all is well...so glad to say that since I was scared to death  when I swallowed those first 3 pills!  Drinking lots of water and peeing all day long.  Never was a big water drinker but plan to make water a lifelong habit.   Feel like Im in water overload...lol...drinking a minimum of 2-3 liters per day!  Trying to eat healthier by snacking on walnuts, blueberries , strawberries, red peppers instead of Mounds & Hershey Bars.  Bought some Quinoa, but not quite sure how to cook it or what to mix it with.  Trying to lay off the fast food...havent gone through fast food drive through in weeks to prepare for my journey.
